Spring Nature Trail

Follow Ranger Dan's spring trail through the beautiful Heddon Valley to discover more about its wonderful wildlife and nature. Start at the National Trust shop and follow the fun trail along the river and through the beautiful woodland down to Heddon's Mouth.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt

Start at Watersmeet House and follow the woodland trail and find the clues hidden in the Lyn Valley to claim your Cadbury's chocolate prize. This beautiful Easter trail follows the river in the wooded valley around Watersmeet.

Youth Football Festival

The Youth Football Festival. 2 days of junior football matches. Entry to watch the matches is free. Hot and cold refreshments will be on sale all day at the village hall. Burgers, rolls, cakes, cream teas and much more.

Wildwatch - Stream Dipping

Date: 7th May 2018 11:00am-3:00pm 
Discover what amazing bugs and beasties live in the streams of Exmoor as we river dip down at Tarr Steps. Please wear outdoor clothing and suitable footwear. Remember to approach Tarr Steps via Viscombe (from the North) as the ford can be quite deep!

Family Butterfly Trail

Heddon Valley is home to hundreds of beautiful butterflies, attracting some of the rarest species in Britain. In celebration of these unique residents we have created a fun family trail through the valley, with butterfly clues to find along the way. You might even spot some of the real things! Pick up your trail from the National Trust shop.

Brayford Duck Race and Dog Show

Date: 28th May 2018 1:30pm-5:30pm 
A fun day for all the family with cream teas, ice creams, hot dogs, plus various stalls as well as a Family Dog Show (Pedigree, Family and Obedience classes) - starting at 1.00pm. Come and enjoy the fun, or sit and enjoy listening to the local jazz band. Duck Race prizes £75, £50, £25, as well as Vouchers and Other Prizes from local Organisations and Attractions. Ducks in the water at 3.30pm.

Simonsbath Festival Midsummer Family and Community Concert

Midsummer marks the end of Simonsbath Festival 2018 with a family and community concert, featuring the Paul Wilson and Marilyn Tucker from the folk and community arts organisation Wren Music and the children of Exford, Cutcombe, Timberscombe and Dulverton schools. The concert is a part of the festival’s ‘Songs from the Exmoor Forest’ project, which involves organising a series of workshops, run by Paul Wilson throughout the festival in local schools, to teach children the traditional music and songs of Exmoor. The workshops culminate in the children’s performance at this afternoon’s concert.

The Lynmouth Regatta and Maritime Festival

The Lynmouth Regatta and Maritime Festival returns for 2018! Following on from the success of last year, the regatta (which raises vital funds for local charitable and not for profit organisations) returns to Lynmouth for another day and night of nautical fun. There will be a dedicated sea shanty stage, with groups performing from all over the country. With trade stands, face painting, historical groups, boat races, entertainers...there is something for everyone.

Exmoor Rail

This annual event offers a range of high quality working layouts of different sizes, plus demonstrations and a wide variety of traders. All displays are on the ground floor. There is a restaurant offering hot & cold food/drinks and parking is available right outside (Pay & Display), plus free parking in surrounding roads. This is a really friendly, family event and all are welcome.

Family Treasure Hunt

We go to Beulah Chapel, see the remains of the Ralegh's Cross Mine, Brendon Village and the Winding House. This part is accessible for push chairs. Then we go down the Incline. Plenty of fun for children along the way!

Withypool Flower Show is held in the Village Hall. The Fete held in conjunction with the show is on the green by the beautiful river Barle. Traditional side shows and stalls, teas, raffle and children's races. Come and join us for a fun family afternoon out.

Brompton Regis Horse Show & Gymkhana

Date: 18th Aug 2018 9:00am-4:30pm 
A traditional show with lots for everyone! Horse show and gymkhana with jumping, showing and fancy dress classes. Very popular dog show - entries on the day. Gundog Scurry runs all day. Childrens' races. Parade of foxhounds. Refreshment tent and ice cream stall. Bouncy castle and face painting. Flower, produce, cookery and handicraft shows. Auction of pledges and raffle. Bric a brac, book and bottle stalls. Grand auction of show produce at 4.00pm to round of a great day for all the family.
